Southern Bride & Groom is celebrated its 25th Anniversary as the Triangle’s favorite bridal resource with our wonderful family of partners and advertisers last week at Top of the Hill’s new event venue, The Great Room.
In honor of the anniversary, we had a surprise 1987 theme – the year that SB&G was first published! When guests arrived, they were greeted with a table of neon 80’s accessories such as scrunchies, jelly bracelets and fanny packs. Island Sound created a video montage of some classic 80’s wedding movies, which played silently in the background as their DJ, Frankie Hagan, played 80’s tunes all evening.
University Florist‘s brightly colored pinks & purple floral arrangements popped off of the bright-colored linens from Classic Party Rentals. Guests enjoyed hors ‘dourves including Top O‘s famous shrimp n’ grits, and of course, their amazing selection of beers. An assortment of finger sized delectable desserts were provided by Sugarland.
The Green Kangaroo created paper products for the event, including colorful timeline invitations which marked some of the milestones in SB&G’s history. A Southern Soiree helped us plan the event and all the 80’s extras, and Brian Mullins Photography documented the details and fun. Below is an assortment of photos from the “totally awesome” party!
Thank you to everyone who made this party happen, to everyone who attended, and to all of the SB&G Family! We are so proud to work with the Triangle’s finest wedding professionals!
Southern Bride & Groom had a great day at Forever Bridal’s Southern Bridal Show & Expo this past Sunday. It was a day of fashion, fun, food… and prizes for our local Raleigh-Durham brides.
We selected two winning couples this week and are giving out two seaside getaways.
Danielle and Jerry won a 3-night stay to the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, a castle-like historic resort off the coast of Georgia. Danielle and Jerry are getting married next April at the Grand Marquise Ballroom.
Golf fan, anyone? This pro golfer and event professional found everything they wanted out of a wedding venue at Raleigh, NC’s TPC at Wakefield Plantation – ambiance, food, and golf!
They had fun with the golf theme, along with the help of their event planner, Erin McLean; their florist, Tre Bella; and TPC’s Event Director Jaclyn Parks. Brian Mullins Photography captured the creativity in his beautiful photography.

If you’re looking
for an intimate affair, local NC beach weddings are an excellent option. They also serve as a fabulous and affordable destination for NC couples in the Triangle, Triad, Mountain or Charlotte areas. The beach offers a
beautiful view, nice accommodations for guests and a day to remember.
The beachy accents are what make a beach wedding unique. If
you’re looking for ideas try to include what your venue offers, like starfish,
sea shells and fun in the sun.
Whether you’re thinking a destination wedding or a local
affair, check out Southern Bride and Groom for ideas and news.
