John and Krystal
Finding a venue that is so perfectly a couple’s style that not much has to be done to make it feel like “theirs” is hard to come by. When John and Krystal stepped foot into The Merrimon-Wynne House they felt immediately that it was the perfect place to have their special day. It’s classic, simple and elegant, which encapsulated exactly what the couple wished for in a venue. Gather Together pulled together the couple’s vision to have a picture perfect simple and elegant navy wedding.
Krystal and John had no regrets in their choice of The Merrimon-Wynne House as their venue. Not only was it beautiful, but their staff went above and beyond. “The stunning views of the venue speaks for itself. The staff, however, proved their greatness that day. They went out of their way to make sure John and I, as well as my family and wedding party, were comfortable and had everything we needed.”
It is so important for a photographer to be able to capture a couple’s special day in great detail. The day may fly by, but with photographs, the memories last a lifetime. “Melissa and her team documented every detail of the day, some of which i didn’t get to see until I received the pictures. Her style fit my overall design and choice of venue. With her use of natural light she was able to capture the best photos. She is so easy to work with and is as personable as she is talented.”
The bride’s late grandmother gifted her with ginger jars to decorate her first apartment with and she wanted to incorporate them into the wedding’s design. “Katherine, my wedding planner, helped me do that and beyond. We chose a fairly neutral color scheme that complimented the jars: navy, slate blue, and champagne. We added green and white accents, mainly with additions of white floral and greenery. The ginger jars added to the mix of blues in the color scheme. Signage was designed to complement the ginger jar patterns as well, such as the menu board design,” said Krystal.
The bride could not have been more pleased with their wedding planner. “Hiring Gather Together was the best decision I made in the planning process and was the best investment of my wedding budget. Katherine brought my vision to life with her knowledge of local vendors and design expertise. My family and I also didn’t have to worry about a thing on our wedding day because we knew Katherine and her team had it handled. The Gather Together Team were my secret weapon!”

Garden Floral Wedding Inspiration
This dream garden grows splendid roses in coral, peach and gold colors of sunset within eye-catching geometric shaped vases and tiny terrariums. The romantic tablescape by Eclectic Sage is set beneath a luxurious hanging arrangement. This look is completed with ribbon woven through the white lattice backdrop, menus and place cards.
With such an array of colors and metals, One + Only Paper kept their menus and placecards unique yet simplistic. The geometric touches on the designs perfectly complimented the geometric accents of the tablescape.
Golden accents were not only added to the table with vases and decor but also to the bride. Bailey’s Fine Jewelry adorned the beautiful bride with vintage inspired gold pieces.
Eclectic Sage didn’t just use their impeccable skills with floral arrangements for the table display. The brides floral crown and gorgeous bridal bouquet matched perfectly with the garden blooms of the entire wedding scene.

Chuck & Andy
The Umstead Hotel & Spa was the first venue that came to mind for these two handsome grooms who wanted a classy and sophisticated wedding. Chuck and Andy tied the knot with an outdoor ceremony and candlelit reception filled with sultry sophistication, perfected by their wedding coordinator, A Southern Soiree.
Chuck Gavazzi and Andy Pacos met at work, where they are both VPs within the same national emergency medicine management company. For nearly a year Chuck noticed Andy around the hospital. Finally, a real conversation led to a first date. When Andy toasted to “new friendships,” Chuck knew he was in for the long haul, and years later, when Andy proposed, Chuck’s reply was “Absolutely.”
They knew they wanted their wedding to have the utmost class and sultry sophistication. They booked The Umstead Hotel & Spa knowing it is renowned for impeccable service, which the couple noted they received, mentioning that “the staff of the Umstead did not miss a beat.”
“A good photographer is a big deal. Adam Chapin Photography truly conveyed the emotion of the day and captured the essence of who we are as a couple.”
The decor had a woodsy outdoor look with moss coverings, accented with lots of candles in varying heights.
Chuck and Andy had a custom design of their initials in elements of the wedding beginning with the invitations and menus, and even beautifully lit up on the dance floor by Themeworks.
“A good wedding planner is worth a million dollars. A Southern Soiree took care of every detail from surprises such as custom made look-a-like cookies and light up tambourines to all the handling of the wedding day – we can not say enough great things about Megan.”

One of the best parts about getting married in the Springtime is the countless options that are available for your floral arrangements and bouquets for your special day. Between the soft airy color pallets, incredibly fresh blooms, and ample amount of green accent options, there is definitely no shortage of inspiration for you and your bridal party’s floral bouquets.
We rounded up some of our favorite floral trends for this season to give you some inspiration for your Spring bouquet!
Pretty in Pink
Adding different shades of pink has always been a favorite of Spring brides. Pastel pinks and blush color schemes are a classic that isn’t going away anytime soon. Try adding a hint of green in your bouquet for a variation of the traditional look.
Add Some Rustic Accents
Adding rustic accents to a wedding is not something new, but adding them to your bouquet is definitely a unique take on the trend. Try adding darker colored vines like this bouquet for a rustic garden chic feel.
For the classically simple bride, try the small bouquet. A few beautiful blooms with some greenery will go a long way. Something so simple can really make quite the beautiful impact for a wedding.
Throw in Eucalyptus
Not only is eucalyptus absolutely stunning, it smells divine too! Try a classic one color bouquet with accents of eucalyptus to add some variety. The sweet smell of the eucalyptus leaves is just an added bonus to it’s beauty.
All About Variety
Can’t seem to decide between all your favorite colors and blooms? Good news- you don’t have to. Try a fun bouquet with all of your favorites for a very eye catching look! The amazing thing about flowers are there are few that don’t look absolutely beautiful when paired together.
Want to add just a touch of edge to your bouquet? You can keep your pastel color scheme and add dark accents like these anemone blooms. With just a touch of darker shades, your bouquet can keep the airy spring look while looking multidimensional.
Go Big or Go Home
With so many beautiful floral arrangements available this time of year, sometimes it’s hard to narrow down what you want in your bridal bouquet. With a larger than life bouquet, you can accommodate all of the blooms and accent leaves your heart desires. It’s also incredibly stunning in photographs. Just be careful when tossing this size of bouquet!
Shades of Colors
You don’t need to limit yourself to one shade of accent colors in your bouquet. Experiment with different shades of the color in your theme. For example, this bouquet below uses multiple different purples. While the colors stay in the same purple color family, it adds some variety to the arrangements.

April and Costa’s Picture Perfect Wedding at Duke Gardens
Every couple dreams of getting married somewhere that has holds a special place to their relationship. April and Constantine went back to the location of their first date and with the help of their wedding planner, Gather Together, had a picture perfect wedding day.
April Harrison and Constantine (Costa) Stoumbos met during their junior year at Duke University. Their October wedding at Duke Gardens commemorated their first date exactly six years prior at that very location. The weekend was not only a walk down memory lane complete with a bridal luncheon at one of April’s favorite college eateries, but also a wonderful celebration for their college friends, as it was homecoming weekend on campus. After the gardens wedding reception, the couple hosted an all-night after party at The King’s Daughters Inn.
The color scheme revolved around lots of gold and other metallic elements, with eucalyptus green and natural tones, and a burgundy and lavender contrast.
“Katherine Miles Jones has a warmth and openness that immediately put us at ease and created an intimacy that comes across in the moments she captured. Her calming presence and funny jokes helped keep everyone relaxed when there was a bit of a time crunch right before the ceremony. Finally, her natural light style was incredibly flattering, capturing the natural beauty of the space and producing images that felt like the real us.”
April was set on a very organic palette reflecting the natural beauty of the gardens, and Chelsey inspired and designed the contrasting elements, bringing it all together. It felt warm and inviting, but also airy and romantic. April was floored when she walked into the reception, which she described a “woodland utopia.”
“Working with Gather Together eased our worries throughout the planning process so that we were able to be more present and enjoy the experience rather than stressing about logistics. This was true for the whole year we worked with her,” said the bride.

North Carolina Outdoor Wedding Inspiration
There is a good reason so many North Carolina couples desire an outdoor wedding. When the weather is on point in our state, the open air surroundings are nothing short of mild and magical. And indeed, all is aglow with romance in this spring outdoor wedding with a pastel color palette. The end result was an intimate industrial, garden chic wedding designed around geometric shapes and a soft feminine palette of mint, copper and pastels. This modern NC wedding in a country setting was designed by local wedding planner team, A Southern Soiree.
This formal affair is designed to feel intimate and casual. The ceremony was adorned in wood elements and florals to bring out a garden chic feel. The outdoor dining area defined by market light poles is intentionally cozy, and is set with a mix of table groupings, all conducive to sharing food and good company.
Fashion & Beauty
Smart suits in soft grey pair handsomely with bridesmaid dresses, each unique and in complementary shades of the palest blue. Mismatching bridesmaid dresses gives the opportunity to add a variation of colors while still staying in one palette and theme.
To photograph the classic beauty of the venue, Casey Rose Photography chose film photography for its unparalleled ability to capture rich textures, depth and dynamic range in soft, natural colors and soft light.
Flowers & Décor
The English Garden created naturally styled floral bouquets and arrangements in a feminine palette of mint and mixed pastels. Adding mixed metals created an industrial look that perfectly paired with the feminine beauty of the scenery. “We blended texture, metal and pastels to create an unexpected design,” says Megan Gillikin of A Southern Soiree.
A formal affair designed to feel cozy and casual, the perfect setting for guests to enjoy the outdoors and good company.
Elegant passed hor d’oeuvres adds an easy, delicious touch to the guest’s experience. Edible Art Bakery produced geometric garden chic cakes to incorporate the events themes.
