Garden Floral Wedding Inspiration
This dream garden grows splendid roses in coral, peach and gold colors of sunset within eye-catching geometric shaped vases and tiny terrariums. The romantic tablescape by Eclectic Sage is set beneath a luxurious hanging arrangement. This look is completed with ribbon woven through the white lattice backdrop, menus and place cards.
With such an array of colors and metals, One + Only Paper kept their menus and placecards unique yet simplistic. The geometric touches on the designs perfectly complimented the geometric accents of the tablescape.
Golden accents were not only added to the table with vases and decor but also to the bride. Bailey’s Fine Jewelry adorned the beautiful bride with vintage inspired gold pieces.
Eclectic Sage didn’t just use their impeccable skills with floral arrangements for the table display. The brides floral crown and gorgeous bridal bouquet matched perfectly with the garden blooms of the entire wedding scene.

Romantic Floral Inspiration
The captivating design perfectly meshes with the charm of The Merrimon-Wynne House. We love that Fiore Fine Flowers mixed florals you might grow in your home garden like blush and cream dahlias and roses, with gorgeous and exotic white phalaenopsis orchids. The bounteous bundles are enhanced with special touches like silk ribbon chair embellishments, watercolor place cards and mixed golden vases. This soft extravagant mix is as romantic as it gets.
Fiore Fine Flowers adorned the beautiful antique fireplace of The Merrimon-Wynne House with green leaf runners, blush and cream dahlias and roses, and candles. They added a mix of gold lanterns and vases to pull together the classic gold and blush color theme.
Fiore Fine Flowers created a large cream and blush bridal bouquet with dahlias, roses, and draping white phalaenopsis. A gold satin sash tied together the gorgeous bouquet to compliment the gold accents of the scenery.
Watercolor blush menus and place cards from If It’s Paper add a whimsical and artistic touch that perfectly pairs with the elegant tall gold vases with white and blush shaded blooms from Fiore Fine Flowers.

North Carolina Outdoor Wedding Inspiration
There is a good reason so many North Carolina couples desire an outdoor wedding. When the weather is on point in our state, the open air surroundings are nothing short of mild and magical. And indeed, all is aglow with romance in this spring outdoor wedding with a pastel color palette. The end result was an intimate industrial, garden chic wedding designed around geometric shapes and a soft feminine palette of mint, copper and pastels. This modern NC wedding in a country setting was designed by local wedding planner team, A Southern Soiree.
This formal affair is designed to feel intimate and casual. The ceremony was adorned in wood elements and florals to bring out a garden chic feel. The outdoor dining area defined by market light poles is intentionally cozy, and is set with a mix of table groupings, all conducive to sharing food and good company.
Fashion & Beauty
Smart suits in soft grey pair handsomely with bridesmaid dresses, each unique and in complementary shades of the palest blue. Mismatching bridesmaid dresses gives the opportunity to add a variation of colors while still staying in one palette and theme.
To photograph the classic beauty of the venue, Casey Rose Photography chose film photography for its unparalleled ability to capture rich textures, depth and dynamic range in soft, natural colors and soft light.
Flowers & Décor
The English Garden created naturally styled floral bouquets and arrangements in a feminine palette of mint and mixed pastels. Adding mixed metals created an industrial look that perfectly paired with the feminine beauty of the scenery. “We blended texture, metal and pastels to create an unexpected design,” says Megan Gillikin of A Southern Soiree.
A formal affair designed to feel cozy and casual, the perfect setting for guests to enjoy the outdoors and good company.
Elegant passed hor d’oeuvres adds an easy, delicious touch to the guest’s experience. Edible Art Bakery produced geometric garden chic cakes to incorporate the events themes.

Our beaches are a point of pride for most North Carolinians. From the famed Outer Banks, to the pristine shores of remote nooks like Topsail and Bald Head Island, to bustling destinations like Atlantic Beach, each has its own personality and vibe. One of the most special NC beaches – popular for vacations and destination weddings alike – is Wrightsville. Neighbor to the charming town of Wilmington – the “Charleston of NC,” if you will, Wrightsville is a world of its own that faces the Atlantic on one side, and the Intercoastal Waterway on the other. Fine art NC photographer Bronwyn Duffield Photography took advantage of each of these signature features, and styled an incredibly romantic Wrightsville Beach wedding inspirational shoot. Enjoy these images, which were shot on film by Bronwyn.
The setting is the pier of The Oceanic. The vibe is soft and romantic – a full and flowing wedding dress, a handsome gray suit in subtle plaid, and a color palette of antique blush tones, creams and dusty blue in the bouquet and bridesmaid gown. Thanks to the quiet winter, the newlyweds have the sand, waves and warm sunlight all to themselves. The winter golden grasses of the intercoastal waterway add dimension to the scene. The bride and groom aglow in warm light which shows up beautifully in film photography.A table for two is set underneath the Wrightsville Beach pier. Antique mauve and cream colors are paired with vintage blue and green glassware. Blue and gold china is complemented with menus depicted in calligraphy. A nautical touch is added with silver whale figurines. And to top off the soiree, a buttercream cake is served. The bride dons a second wedding gown after dinner for some portraits in the dunes. This one features elegant lace sleeves. The bride and her bridesmaid pull their hair back for more elegant, yet still beachy wedding hairstyles. In our world, January means wedding show season! It might be cold outside with an early setting sun, but this is our favorite time of year. Our latest edition of Southern Bride & Groom magazine has just been published, and we get to spend a couple of days each week handing it out and chatting with newly-engaged couples who are just getting started on their wedding planning journey. This is what makes our work feel truly meaningful. But these events are fun for another reason, too – the local vendors pull out all the stops to showcase their talents, as well as the latest design trends. Some wedding shows are so pretty that couples could leave having planned every last detail of their wedding design. Today, we are sharing oodles of Southern wedding inspiration from The Carolina Inn Bridal Showcase.
SB&G magazine – and Mama Parks – has been part of this show for all 22 years it has been held! We adore our longstanding relationship with The Carolina Inn – a stunning Chapel Hill NC historic hotel and wedding venue known for its high class service and atmosphere. One of the most impressive offerings of The Carolina Inn Bridal Showcase is the vignettes that are scattered throughout the property. Tented receptions on the Carolina Inn lawns are very popular for weddings, especially during the spring and fall. This allows an outdoor vibe alongside the experience of amazing cuisine and upscale amenities. It doesn’t get much better than dining in style under a clear tent with a floral chandelier centerpiece!

In the brilliant tabletop display, ability to converse does not get lost with this extravagant design.
A confetti cake is a perfectly fun way to celebrate the kickoff to happily ever after!
Valentine’s Day is best spent with the ones we love, including our besties! This charming Bridal Shower Soriee designed by Stephanie Scholl Events is filled with lovely feminine details – white, bright, and blush colors along with “xoxo” details from the paper invitations to the table runner. Adorable gift boxes filled with champagne, a succulent, a copper Moscow Mule cup, and the cutest heart-shaped sugar cookies are the envy of any bridesmaid.
The simple and sweet dessert bar, perfect for this bridal shower soirée, was put together by Randi at Sugar Euphoria. Mixed metals, blush, and lots of white plus a two-tiered and two-toned cake steel the show. Raspberry macarons, like little jewels, make for cute edible accents.
Bridal registries are practically a social requirement for most brides, and for good reasons. It’s exciting for the bride and groom to choose pieces and products they both love and will enjoy for years to come. And most guests want to buy a wedding gift that they can feel confident the couple will cherish. A registry eliminates guesswork, making gift selection simple for friends and family. China and tableware are popular items among registries and the choices today are versatile.

Even though The Cloth Mill at Eno River is a historic site located in the charming Southern town of Hillsborough, NC, it exudes modern elegance. As you can see from the styled shoot below, A Swanky Affair, showcased the versatility of this urban event space.
“So often we see a more rustic or industrial vibe in weddings at these type of venues, but venues like the Cloth Mill are a blank slate – perfect for couples to create any type of design, including something super sophisticated!” says Amanda Scott, owner of A Swanky Affair.
Contemporary florals gave it a modern feel, but the scene was also kept traditional with a cream damask pattern linen and classic navy and gold accents.
A great time to check out The Cloth Mill is during its winter wedding showcase: Freshly Pressed, taking place on January 14, 2017.

NC’s Trusted Wedding Magazine Reveals 30th Anniversary Cover
Each year, putting Southern Bride & Groom’s annual magazine together is a labor of love between the SB&G team, local wedding vendors, and the happy couples connected in our network. Fittingly, our annual magazine showcases the best of the best when it comes to North Carolina wedding vendors. This year is an especially exciting year for us because it marks a major milestone for the magazine’s – our 30th anniversary! We are thrilled to reveal our first cover of 2017, and share the styled shoot from which it came, created by several local NC wedding vendors.
A Garden Party Wedding at Merrimon-Wynne
The winter-spring cover captures the essence of what it means to be a Southern bride and groom: modern beauty mixed with timeless tradition. This enchanting photo is by local photographer Renee Sprink. It was taken during an inspirational garden wedding on the lawn of The Merrimon-Wynne House. The shoot, styled by Events by La Fete, was part of a celebratory event for this popular wedding venue which had completed construction on its gorgeous Carriage House, located in the back lawn, expanding capacity and functionality for wedding parties.
The stylist and florist, Meristem Floral, worked to bring a garden party vibe indoors with trees, moss, and shimmery linen. A white, mirrored bar and lounge furniture kept the vibe modern and clean.
Who wouldn’t be all smiles when donned in Vera Wang? The lovely bride was stunning in with the magical “Pippa” gown, from Alexia’s Bridal, and styled by Makeup for Your Day with raspberry-hued lips and a loose braid. Her groom was dashing in his smart navy suit, and her maid of honor floated in a Monique Lhuillier, also from Alexia’s.
Vibrant Mottahedeh china and Herend collectibles from Bailey’s Fine Jewelry atop a glass table set on a verdant green lawn were lovely touches for this spring garden party. A soft butterfly theme was found in the patterns and hand-made place cards. Specialty furniture from Themeworks and additional tabletop items from Party Reflections completed the look.Food tastes better when beautifully presented! Delicious hors d’oeuvres from Donovan’s Dish were displayed on a hanging swing in the courtyard, as well as on living tabletops that floated about the event – it doesn’t get more charming than that! They may look like models, but these sparks are real. Kari and Matthew are a real couple and loved getting dressed up for this faux wedding day.
