Jonay & David Jonay Allen and David Zies met through friends in Los Angeles, where Jonay was working in the fashion industry and David was a special education teacher. Though they did not hit it off at first, eventually something clicked and they became inseparable. Returning to a beach in Malibu where they’d watched the sun set on one of their first dates, David told Jonay that was when he’d known she was the one for him…and proposed. With Jonay from North Carolina and David from Arizona, the couple wanted their guests to experience a true Southern wedding. A traditional church wedding was planned, with the Carolina Inn chosen as the ideal reception site. They chose the wedding date so they would always have a vacation day and fireworks on their anniversary! Jonay had both a maid and a matron of honor, and David’s best men were his two best friends since second grade. Floral arrangements of soft blue, chocolate brown and yellow, with accents of pink, orange and green, gave a summery air to the setting. Guests were delighted not only with the traditional Southern shrimp and grits, but also with the charming southern atmosphere in the Chapel Hill area.
