Kristin and Tim After meeting at their church’s world conference in Missouri, Kristin Caler, a graduate student in North Carolina, and Timothy Hernandez, a pilot living in Maryland, managed to see each other every weekend until their wedding. When Tim proposed to Kristin in Shenandoah National Park, camping under the stars after a day of hiking and a few close encounters with bears, he’d accidentally left the ring behind in the car. Kristin said yes, but couldn't’t wait to get back to the car to see the ring! The busy couple decided they needed to find a venue that could not only accommodate the wedding party, but had someone who could handle a lot of the planning for them. “We love Magnolia Manor because it has such a warm, inviting, traditional feeling,” said Kristin. “The surrounding pecan orchards are beautiful and we love the history of the house.” The couple felt they were all treated like family the entire weekend, from homemade lemonade and plentiful home-cooked meals. It was very relaxing as well as convenient to have the entire wedding party and immediate family staying in one place. Kristin summed it up, “ the manor’s ambiance, along with its owners, Larry and Sheila Carver, turned our wedding into an enjoyable, social event for everyone.” They enjoyed a fun pig-pickin’ rehearsal dinner followed by s’mores around a bonfire, and singing old songs on a hayride through the property. On Saturday, Kristin and her ‘maids got ready in the bridal suite before her brother walked her from the home to her waiting groom and guests beneath the ceremony site among the orchards. The spectacular Carriage House (see photos of lit pavilion) was the site for the reception party.
