Melissa and Chuck Melissa Williams and Chuck Lewis both worked for the same company, but did not meet until they were assigned to the same project and were attending training sessions in Wilmington. Though living in different cities, their work travels allowed them to see each other fairly often. When Chuck proposed, he made sure it was in a place very special to Melissa: the Bald Head Island Chapel. Melissa, a Raleigh native who often traveled to Bald Head Island for family vacations, had always wanted to get married in the island’s chapel. It held special meaning for her as it was where her parent’s had renewed their vows and a niece had been baptized. Melissa chose a coastal theme with shells, starfish, and seahorses, and nature’s colors of green, brown and cream. Though Melissa’s parents own a house on the island, a larger, rented home was used for guests and various activities. Prior to the wedding, the guys went for a golf outing, while the ladies enjoyed an afternoon by the pool. The Sunday afternoon ceremony was followed by a cocktail reception and an elegant seated dinner at The Shoals Club, with music provided by a steel drum band. With nearly half the guests staying off the island, the reception was timed so that guests could catch the last ferry of the evening! After a few more days enjoying Bald Head Island, Melissa and Chuck flew to St. John’s for their honeymoon. On the way home to Seattle, where they now live, they stopped over in Kansas City so that Chuck’s parents could host a reception for the couple there.
