This Valentine’s Day was Helen and Glenn’s first day as Mr. and Mrs. Poston. They chose February 13 as their wedding day both to honor Helen’s parents’ anniversary and to coincide with the Valentine’s Day date.

Helen Daniels and Glenn Poston met while working at Tripp’s restaurant in Garner and became friends for a couple of years before they started dating. After Glenn proposed, a first step was to hire Angie Wright of Chic Details to begin planning their special Valentine dream wedding. Helen credited Chic Details for “helping to create the most wonderful day of my life.”

Booking the venue turned out to be the easiest step, as the couple fell in love with Brier Creek Country Club’s classic, elegant look as soon as they visited it. They used the club’s Palmer’s Cove room for a romantic fireplace wedding ceremony and the grand ballroom for their customized reception, also enjoying the scenic outdoor patios.

Their colors were red and chocolate brown in the spirit of the romantic holiday. The bold red bouquet and flower arrangements were provided by Fresh Affairs.  Helen wore ruby red slippers instead of traditional white shoes with her dress, and even made her own wedding favors of chocolate-covered apples. The couple rolled out of the reception in a stylish antique Model A Ford.
