Real Weddings – Jennifer & Ben
Jennifer and Ben
April 21, 2012
Carolina Club Chapel Hill Wedding
Jennifer and Ben met as students at The University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill in the summer of 2005. Despite an instant connection,
the duo remained “just friends” for over a year! Jennifer finally asked Ben to
be her date to her Kappa Delta sorority formal, and the pair became an
inseparable couple.
After four years of post-graduate, long-distance dating, Ben popped the question. Naturally, Jennifer and Ben wanted to host their wedding in Chapel Hill – a town that had always meant so much to them. They married on April 21, 2012 – the sixth anniversary of their first date – at the Carolina Club, bringing their dating journey full-circle.
Surrounded by family and friends, Jennifer and Ben said “I do” in a truly family-oriented fashion. They took inspiration from photographs of family weddings gone by, and fell in love with the timeless, sleek details. Jennifer wore her mother’s veil and carried Ben’s grandmother’s handkerchief with her bouquet, and the couple even exchanged vows over Jennifer’s family Bible, which she had read from as a child.
Jennifer’s Monique Lhuillier gown from Alexia’s Bridal was a two-piece bustier-skirt combination, so she could perform a stunning outfit change for the reception without much effort at all! The bride ditched her long, trumpet skirt from the ceremony for a short, flirty dancing skirt made of feathers after the Sugarland cake was cut!
The couple complimented the work by SB&G photographer Neil Boyd, saying “Neil has a genuine talent for combining elements of photojournalism and fashion…each photo conveys a touching emotion and is truly worthy of the spotlight! We were blown away with Neil’s ability to weave the threads of seemingly separate moments into one story.”
Jennifer and Ben also used live wedding painter Tesh Parekh, and were thrilled with the detail in the finished product. Angie Wright from Chic Details Weddings & Events provided the couple with a simple, sweet gesture to end the night – a picnic basket of dinner bites, sweets and champagne they didn’t have the chance to enjoy at their reception!
Other SB&G family members helped make the wedding weekend special, including a rehearsal dinner at The Great Room at Top of the Hill, a bridal luncheon at The Weathervane at Southern Season, Bella Trio Day Spa, a farewell brunch at The Carolina Inn, and guest accommodations at The Franklin.
Congratulations Jennifer and Ben!
