Upcoming Wedding Show — “The Invisible Groom” at The Top of the Hill
The Top of the Hill is partnering with Virtue Event Planning and Consulting, Inc. and Party Reflections to put together a wedding event designed specifically for grooms. That’s right, y’all — grooms! This upcoming wedding show, The Invisible Groom will take place Sunday, February 24th from 1:00-4:00pm at The Great Room at Top of the Hill. Think cigars, bow ties and beer.
Designed with the modern groom in mind, this one-of-a-kind event will feature a selection of local vendors to help your beau with bachelor party planning, honeymoon details and budget tips, all while he enjoys beer samples from the Top of the Hill brewery, cigar rolling and the “Man Cave” atmosphere of The Great Room at Top of the Hill.
But don’t worry, brides, this event has something in store for you as well! The bridal boutique will have information on wedding planning, floral design, stationary, make-up and more! Browse the hottest styles of wedding gowns and sip on wine, while your fiancé enjoys his own event in the adjoining room.
This event is free and open to the public, but RSVPing is encouraged, as there is limited space! To reserve your spot, check here.

The Carolina Inn Bridal Showcase
One of the Triangle’s favorite annual wedding events, The Carolina Inn Bridal Showcase, is quickly approaching!
Sunday, January 27th
1:00pm-4:00pm
Join the SB&G Team and a slew of other wedding industry professionals at the upscale Carolina Inn on Sunday afternoon, January 27th, for the 18th-annual Carolina Inn Bridal Showcase. This is a must-attend event for all brides! Browse the Inn’s gorgeous floor plan while sipping on champagne, and then enjoy a buffet and a high-end fashion runway show.

Fall Decor at SB&G’s Booth

Southern Bride & Groom was at the TBA Showcase yesterday. This is an annual bridal show that Forever Bridal throws each October. For the second year, it was at the Sheraton Chapel Hill, which is itself a great wedding and reception venue. Check out our fall decor that we put together using green pumpkins and dahlias from our Durham Farmer’s Market.
This particular show nice because it is a smaller show and brides really get to take the time to get to know the vendors they meet. We had a great time chatting with brides and getting feedback from many that they have been using our magazine and website for wedding planning. Always great to hear positive feedback and know that what we are doing counts. We spoke to several brides who are so newly engaged that they had not found their venue yet. Because I’m sure many of our blog readers are in the same boat, I wanted to point out what I told brides yesterday- the Venue Guide that we have in the back of our magazine is also now online. CLICK HERE to peruse Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, and Eastern NC wedding venues and sort by stipulations such as area, capacity, whether there are accommodations, if outside catering is allowed, and if there is outdoor space. Once the results are narrowed down, you have a more streamlined list of venues that are more likely to fit your needs.
As always, SB&G had a special prize for yesterday’s show. We selected a winner today for our weekend stay at Sands Resort North Myrtle Beach. Congrats to Ashley and Ryan, a Cary couple who is getting married next year!
October Chapel Hill Wedding Show
Guess what October means? We’re in the midst of WEDDING SEASON yet again! Its an exciting time for the wedding professionals of Southern Bride & Groom magazine, who are busy putting together gorgeous fall weddings every weekend.
But its also exciting for the newly-engaged NC brides – we haven’t forgotten about you! A whole array of Triangle wedding vendors will be on display and ready to meet you at the Triangle Bridal Showcase coming up on Sunday, October 21. Enjoy food, fashion, and fun at this event. Don’t forget to stop by the SB&G booth to pick up a complimentary copy of the magazine, and register for one of our trip giveaways!
The event will take place at The Sheraton Chapel Hill, a fabulous wedding venue itself, if you are still looking; or a wonderful hotel for your wedding guests to stay while in town for your Chapel Hill or Durham wedding.

Altar Ego: Durham Bridal Fashion Show
Altar Ego, the Triangle’s hottest fashion show of the year brought to us by Tre Bella Inc, is quickly-approaching! This is going to be an evening of entertainment at Durham’s most high-end wedding venue, the Washington Duke Inn. Guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and live music while gazing upon various event-themed table designs. The event will culminate with a fashion show, highlighting bridal, bridesmaid and menswear fashions, and also showing local boutique clothing that can be used for your rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, or honeymoon! Tickets are $35 for the full evening and all drinks, food and fashion are included. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a local charity, Girls on the Run, so it is a good cause, too!

Altar Ego: Get in the Loop!
The fashion event of the season is fast approaching!
Altar Ego is an evening of food, fashion and fun in Durham’s Washington Duke Inn, on Saturday March 31st from 6-11PM. Tre Bella Inc has planned an evening to remember and will be showcasing some of the latest bridal trends at the culmination of the fashion show. This 1940s themed event will include a performance by a swing band, delectable fare by the WaDu culinary team, inspirational event tabletops set up by some of the Triangle’s leading event professionals, and of course a fashion show with some of the area’s trendiest boutiques, and bridal salons. The PERFECT date night or ladies night out!

SB&G gives Wedding Planning Tips on My Carolina Today/ NBC-17
Southern Bride & Groom magazine’s Publisher Donna Parks, and Sales/Production Manager Jenna Parks Olender, had the chance to appear on NBC-17′s My Carolina Today this morning, on the “Going to the Chapel” segment.
As December is the month that brings the most engagements, My Carolina Today asked us to come on the show to give some tips to the newly-engaged. There is much to discuss on where to begin with the sometimes overwhelming job of planning that special day! We gave just a couple of practical tips, and a heads-up on the two big shows that are approaching this weekend: Forever Bridal’s Wedding Show at the Raleigh Convention Center this Friday night (4-9pm) and Saturday (10am-4pm); and The Carolina Inn’s Bridal Showcase from 1-4pm on Sunday.
