Southern Bride & Groom (SB&G), the Triangle”s most trusted bridal magazine and online wedding planning resource, is launching a contest for real brides and grooms to apply for their own couple photo shoot. The winner”s photos will be featured in the next issue of the magazine, to be published December 2012.

“SB&G has grown along with the Triangle area, and I feel privileged that we”ve been able to be a part of the amazing wedding industry in this area for 25 years,” said Donna Parks, publisher. “Our goal has been to bring exceptionally talented and reliable businesses to the attention of area brides, along with wedding planning and etiquette tips.”  Parks founded SB&G as the region”s premiere bridal publication in 1986, and still runs the business today alongside her daughter and best friend,Jenna Parks Olender.

SB&G was the NC Triangle”s first bridal publication. It has grown over the years from a small wedding planning and etiquette guide, into the area”s most well-known bridal magazine and trusted directory of wedding services, featuring experienced, talented regional wedding vendors, inspirational fashion, floral, food, invitation and cake photographs, and several real wedding features.

SB&G 25th Anniversary Style Shoot

Southern Bride & Groom is thrilled to announce that we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary in 2012!

My mother, Donna Parks, founded SB&G in 1986 as the premiere bridal publication in North Carolina. It has grown from a small wedding planning and etiquitte guide for the Triangle, into the most trusted bridal magazine and online resource in the Greater Triangle of NC. The philosophy behind SB&G was to grow the magazine slowly, adding only the most reliable of wedding venues and vendors to the magazine each year. Today, my mom and I work side by side at this business, and we are proud to promote the best of the best wedding resources in the Greater Triangle Area. We feel confident that any vendor our brides (and grooms!) find in SB&G are going to be top-knotch and deliver the best possible service on their wedding day.

One of the ways we have maintained a high caliber of resources is by developing relationships with our fellow wedding professionals, but another way is getting feedback from our brides. We now feature more real Triangle brides” weddings than ever, and we always welcome wedding planning questions and advice on vendors that will suit you. We are also hosting a contest for a real local bride and groom to win an SB&G photoshoot! (Submit your entry on the real weddings page of our site). Please feel free to contact me any time at jenna@southernbrideandgroom.com.

In honor of our 25th Anniversay, the SB&G Team (Donna Parks, Jenna Parks Olender and Patricia Campbell, our Art Director) teamed up with local photographer Craig Carpenter of Luster Studios to create a style shoot. We found an amazing handpress from the 1850”s at Artisan Printer, located in Durham”s Goldenbelt. We had a little fun with Brian Allen”s beautiful machine, creating momentos of that read “SB&G 25.” What a fun experience to touch on the history of printing while honoring the SB&G history. Enjoy Luster”s photography below!
