As engagement season winds down, we’re transitioning straight into wedding season! And at the reception, the music always makes a difference, especially if you want your guests to dance. So, carefully choosing your music and musicians is incredibly important. Hire a reliable DJ — they will ask questions about what styles of music you want played, but they will also be able to advise you on your choices, and make some wonderful suggestions. When hiring a live band, make sure to hire a variety group or one that all the generations of guests will enjoy!
A personable DJ or band MC knows how to relate to the guests and get the dance party started with a little encouragement. But, some folks might need a little more. No worries, NC DanceSport is not only a place for you and your groom-to-be to learn and perfect a first dance routine, but also a service available to teach guests styles of dance on-site at your reception! Specializing in styles including ballroom, Latin, country, and swing, NC DanceSport has lots of tricks up their sleeve to make your wedding day lively and interactive — even for your guests on the shy side.
And brides, NC DanceSport is hosting a special for SB&G gals! Regular priced, private instruction is usually $70 an hour, but for SB&G, an hour is only $65! They’re also offering a special on their three and five hour packages — purchase three hours for just $189 (regularly $204), or five hours of instruction for only $280 (regularly $325). Don’t forget about planning your first dance, it’s something you will remember for the rest of your life. So give it the same consideration you give your color choices, flowers, and cake! At this year’s fashion shoot at The Umstead Hotel & Spa, SB&G hosted Bella Bridesmaid — an adorable shop in Raleigh that exclusively focuses on chic, fashionable dresses for your favorite gals…and trust us, these are gowns your girls will love! Bridesmaids dresses have grown away from the shapeless, heavy days of years past, and are now full on fashion statements. Bella Bridesmaid has tons of popular collections, including Amsale, LulaKate, Coren Moore, and Two Birds (and lots more!)
Check out these photos — some of our favorites from the shoot — by the talented Dara Blakeley Photography. And newly engaged brides, make sure to include Bella Bridesmaid on your list of stops when you and your gals are on the hunt for the perfect dress!
These gorgeous navy chiffon gowns are from the Amsale collection at Bella Bridesmaid. Pair these with nude, metallic, or a fun-colored heel for a little added glam. Brides — love that crystal bracelet? Check out Bel Canto Designs for gorgeous, vintage jewelry to accessorize your big day. Also, thanks to Lore Emelio for custom-designing our girls’ awesome hairpieces!
Say “yes” to yellow in these adorable sunshine dresses by LulaKate, available at Bella Bridesmaid. Let your girls choose different necklines that flatter their specific shape for a funky, but still cohesive mismatched look.
This bright green ensemble is the perfect example of a sweet & appropriate style for junior bridesmaids. Having junior bridesmaids is a fantastic way to include girls who are too old to be flower girls, and too young to be full-fledged bridesmaids.
These two selections, both by Coren Moore from Bella Bridesmaid, showcase some of this year’s hottest trends — color blocking and iridescent coral.
All inspired now? Make your appointment at the Raleigh Bella Bridesmaid and start browsing…remember, it takes three to four months for your dresses to come in, so ordering early is a necessity!
It’s Open House season for wedding venues! Yet another one of SB&G’s fabulous Triangle venues is hosting an Open House this weekend — the historic Crenshaw Hall Plantation!
Just north of Raleigh lies the historic Crenshaw Hall Plantation — a 19th-century homestead nestled on five acres of stately oaks and pecan trees. Crenshaw Hall brides are allowed the full use of the beautifully appointed main house, the wedding gazebo, the lawns and the large reception tent.
Come out on Sunday, January 13th, from 2 to 5pm to tour the lovely grounds of this Wake Forest venue, only minutes from Triangle Town Center! Stop in and see what this gorgeous venue & its wonderful staff have to offer to make your big day uniquely you.
The Highgrove Estate in Fuquay-Varina is hosting an Open House on Saturday, January 12, from 10am — 1pm. The Highgrove was the location for our 2013 Cake Shoot, and trust us, it’s a venue you definitely want to check out! It’s got all the charm of a country estate — from rocking chairs on the front porch to an elegant winding staircase — located just outside Raleigh!
Brides and grooms-to-be are invited to come out and explore the venue — from its manicured gardens overlooking Lake Laurel to the beautifully-lit reception space — and see it “dressed up” as it would be for their big day! Potential customers will also get the opportunity to meet with the venue coordinators on-site to discuss the endless possibilities The Highgrove offers to personalize each couple’s wedding day dreams.
No appointment is needed, as the event is a casual, drop-in style. Don’t miss this opportunity to see a breathtaking venue and get some ideas and tips for wedding planning!
