Incorporate Fashion Trends from the 2013 Oscars into Your Wedding
On Sunday, Hollywood’s finest took to the red carpet for the 2013 Academy Awards, and if you’re anything like us at Team SB&G, you watched it for the fashion! For this week’s installment of Advice Fridays, we thought we’d take a look into incorporating fashion trends from the 2013 Oscars into your wedding day, while focusing on designers that will be showcased at the 4th Annual Altar Ego Fashion Show tomorrow!
Jennifer Lawrence, star of The Hunger Games and Best Actress in a Leading Role winner for her part in Silver Linings Playbook, sported a gorgeous pale pink Dior Haute Couture gown at the Oscars. We love how the dropped waist shows off her figure without being too overtly sexy. Think this look could work for you? Check out the Modern Trousseau “August” gown above. The ruching and sweetheart neckline are beautiful, and flattering to most body types. Tomorrow at Altar Ego, Tre Bella will present gowns from the Modern Trousseau collection!
Charlize Theron stunned at the 2013 Academy Awards in a stark white gown by Dior Haute Couture. The peplum gives the dress a modern, regal feel that we think is a great addition to a bridal party! Check out this softer peplum style on Coren Moore’s “Lauren” bridesmaids dress, available in every color on the spectrum to match your wedding pallet. Bella Bridesmaid, a participating boutique for Altar Ego, will be presenting bridesmaids dresses by Coren Moore tomorrow evening.
Rachel Mwanza donned a bold, colorful gown for the 2013 Oscars with a fun hi-low hem. This style hemline is becoming increasingly popular, both on the red carpet and down the aisle! TwoBirds, renowned for their multi-wear style bridesmaids dresses, recently launched a new design featuring a hi-low hem. Bella Bridesmaid will be showing off some of the dresses from the TwoBirds collection tomorrow night during the Altar Ego fashion show.
Talk show host Kelly Ripa sported one of the decade’s (yes, decade’s!) top trends — pockets — for her 2013 Oscars look. This is a fun and convenient addition to any bridesmaids or bridal gown, like this “Gina” gown by LulaKate. Halle Berry showed off a gorgeous striped gown by Versace at the 2013 Oscars. Altar Ego: A Fashion Event
Friday, March 1, 6:30-9:30pm
Tre Bella Inc, Durham’s only couture bridal salon and one of the area’s top florists, is pleased to present their annual fashion event at the prestigious Washington Duke Inn. The event will begin with a cocktail hour and book-signing by NY Times best-selling author Emily Giffin. Giffin is the author of several fabulous novels, including Something Borrowed, which was made into a hit movie. She will also be doing a presentation! The culmination of the event is the fashion show, with local clothing boutiques (Hadley Emerson, Scout & Molly of Chapel Hill, and Smitten), followed by wedding wear including Bella Bridesmaid, Bernard’s Formalwear, and Tre Bella Bridal.
Tickets are $50, and include the entertainment, food and a signature cocktail. All proceeds go to local charity, Girls on the Run.
