Thanksgiving is less than a week away, and that means holiday season is officially upon us! In honor of the holidays being the most popular time of the year to get engaged, we’ve put together a board of holiday season red and gold wedding inspiration.
A red and gold color palette gives off a cheery holiday vibe without going too overboard, and can be used for weddings and events from Thanksgiving well into the New Year! Add pops of orange or plum for an autumn feel, shades of green for a Christmas wedding, or moody blacks and grays for a chic New Years Eve affair.
You can incorporate beautiful holiday colors throughout your wedding day, from subtle ways like gold glitter heels and charming bow-shaped earrings to more wow-worthy aspects like scarlet bridesmaids dresses and bright red florals. We love the mix of warm colors like red and gold offset by the chilliness of winter events — so don’t be afraid to brighten up your guests’ wedding day experience with this gorgeous holiday color palette!

It’s Wedding Feature Wednesday at Southern Bride & Groom! Today, we’re sharing Danielle and Thomas’s beautiful fall NC wedding at Highgrove in Fuquay-Varina, with stunning photographs by Neil Boyd Photography.
Danielle and Thomas met in their high school English class and immediately felt a unique connection. They began dating and continued their relationship long distance after they went off to college in two different cities — Danielle to Johnson & Wales in Charlotte, and Thomas to East Carolina in Greenville. Five years later, they bought a house together and Thomas popped the question! On November 11, 2012, the high school sweethearts said “I do!” in a sweet fall wedding at Highgrove in Fuquay-Varina.
They selected the Highgrove because they wanted to bring Southern Charm to their Northern Italian-style wedding. Danielle and Thomas’s elegant but natural feel (to tie in the groom’s love of all things outdoors) was carried out through a color palette of gold, cream and moss green, which was seen in the beautiful floral arrangements, the green linens and classic white details. The look perfectly complemented Highgrove‘s gorgeous space and the colorful North Carolina fall foliage.
After a decadent Italian meal, the couple and their guests enjoyed a towering wedding cake and dessert bar from Sweet Memories, where Danielle works, before dancing the night away!
The bride’s advice to engaged girls is to “choose your vendors wisely and be sure to use reputable vendors, it makes a big difference! If you don’t have a lot of time, hire a wedding planner, wedding planning takes a lot of time.” Danielle and Thomas used many members of the SB&G Family to make their big day exactly as they’d pictured, including: Highgrove, Crave, Neil Boyd Photography, the bride’s stunning Pronovias gown from Lana Addison Bridal, Sweet Memories, Party Reflections and Shutterbooth.
Check out these breathtaking photos captured by Neil Boyd Photography, and join us in extending a huge congratulations to Danielle and Thomas — y’alls wedding as magical!

Country clubs are one of the most popular choices for wedding venues here in the South, and it’s no coincidence — the Triangle NC country club wedding is the perfect combination of elegance and simplicity. Here in the Triangle Area of North Carolina, we have a wide range of clubs — from golf clubs to city clubs — that make for beautiful, classic and convenient wedding event spaces.
Clubs offer an upscale wedding experience for a wide range of budgets, with the added perk of ease throughout the wedding planning process — most clubs provide basic rental needs like tables, chairs, and linens with their wedding packages. Most importantly, the reception food — the most expensive part of every wedding event — is part of the package, which saves money and planning stress. The best news of all is that all of the SB&G clubs are top-notch when it comes to the dining experience!
The stand-out settings are yet another added appeal of a club wedding. Country clubs have beautiful ballrooms, clubhouses, and picturesque golf courses and grounds; while our area city clubs offer stunning sweeping views. All are able to host both wedding ceremonies and receptions, and most have additional smaller rooms that are perfect for other wedding events, such as bridal luncheons or rehearsal dinners.
Not a private club member? Not to worry, all of the SB&G clubs are open to non-members. Some have member sponsorship programs, but the club staff is happy to help coordinator on your behalf!

Emily and Pat tied the knot at The Garden on Millbrook on September 29, 2012. The couple met on a blind date set up by a mutual friend. After dating for a while, Emily and Pat returned to the restaurant where they’d had their first date, and Pat popped the question! Of course, Emily said yes, and they began planning their fall wedding.
Emily is a wedding planner with Your Special Day Weddings & Special Events, so she knew many local venues. She wanted a fun place with great customer service and delicious food, where she and Pat could have both their ceremony and reception. She knew The Garden on Millbrook would be the perfect choice!
A color palette of navy, raspberry and gold was carried throughout the wedding day in the invitations, linens, attire and even the favors. The couple used Southern Bride & Groom and the bride’s knowledge of local wedding professionals to make their big day perfect, and decided to use many members of the SB&G Family, including: The Garden on Millbrook, Shawn Schindler of Your Special Day Weddings & Special Events, The English Garden, CE Rental, Anfesa’s Jewelers, and Shutterbooth!

The design paired perfectly with the contemporary architecture of the skylit Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University.
Caroline LaRocca chose her own exquisite ghost tables and chairs and specially made the plexiglass risers and containers for this inspirational and modern design. Beautiful silver china and elegant stemware from Classic Party Rentals completed the look.
