From Flirty to Bold, our picks for the Best Non-Traditional Wedding Dress Looks for 2018
So we have shared our favorite romantic gowns, boho styles, and overall trends from NY Bridal Fashion Week! Today we are continuing our series by sharing our picks for the most beautiful statement wedding dresses from NY Bridal market 2018. Each one of these is a fabulous non-traditional wedding dress look for offbeat brides who are more interested in an edgy look, or perhaps just want to shop with an independent bridal gown designer.
Please note, when Southern Bride & Groom visited NY Bridal Market, we visited as many designers as we could fit into our schedule that are carried by our personally recommended Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill and Wilmington wedding dress shops. So if you see a bridal gown or designer you like, take note of the boutique we’ve noted that carries it!
Thank you to Renee Sprink Photography for joining me for bridal fashion week, and capturing these most romantic wedding dresses from 2018 NY Bridal Market.
1-Dramatic Bridal Couture from Tara LaTour
Tara LaTour is the fabric queen, y’all! The thick, voluptuous fabric of this gown is so delicious I want sheets made out of it. The A-line look is made edgy- not just with the bold gem toned color, but also the triangular surprise cuts in the back, and the detachable off-the-shoulder bow sleeves. Tara LaTour is available at Gilded Bridal, in Raleigh, NC.
2- An Autumnal Non-Traditional Wedding Dress Look from Leanne Marshall
Brooklyn designer Leanne Marshall brings us this delightfully bold wedding dress in a vibrant marigold color. This is perfect for a non-traditional bride or even a second wedding. Leanne Marshall is carried by Gilded Bridal.
3- Funky Flair – Red Wedding Dress from Lazaro
Lazaro is always pushing the limits with both romantic and edgy bridal fashions. Red is known as a popular color for wedding dresses for Asian brides, but this color that symbolizes romantic love can make a statement for any bride. Pops of red in vibrant embroidered patterns might be just the statement for a reception gown, or for a non-traditional fall or winter wedding. Lazaro is carried by Tre Bella Bridal in Durham.
4-Bold in Gold – a High Fashion Bridal Look from Isabelle Armstrong
This modern gold wedding dress is fit for a magazine editorial – but we’d love to see it on a real bride! This unique woven fabric and gold sheen would wow guests and make gorgeous wedding photos. The classic shape gives it a romantic wedding vibe even with its surprising accents. Isabelle Armstrong is available at Alexia’s in Raleigh NC.
5- A Classic Bridal Gown with a Sweet Surprise from Sareh Nouri
This darling short-long tea length wedding dress has the most delightful patterned blue print underneath. Due to the structure, it shows even when standing still. Talk about a swoon-worthy statement! Sareh Nouri is carried by Alexia’s.
6- Glamorous Wedding Dress Train from Ines di Santo
Wedding dress trains are back and bigger than ever. High fashion statement gowns by Ines di Santo this season are all about the trains that don’t stop! This ruffle train is a show-stopper. Ines di Santo is carried by Alexia’s.
7- Sultry Silver Modern Bridal Gown by Romona Keveza
This wedding dress gives me big city, modern bridal vibes. The dress itself is sleek with a dainty sheer silver pattern. The sculptured skirt with a metallic silver belt turns it into a major statement wedding dress! We can’t get enough. Legends by Romona Keveza is carried by Raleigh bridal boutique Traditions By Anna.
