It’s Wedding Feature Wednesday at Southern Bride & Groom! Today we’re excited to share Patsy and Scott’s fun and sporty baseball stadium and Bay 7 wedding in downtown Durham, shot by the talented Robin Lin Photography.
Scott and Patsy met in high school through mutual friends. Their first date was actually Scott’s senior prom, which he invited Patsy to before they began dating. When summer ended, Scott went off to attend South Carolina Upstate on a baseball scholarship and Patsy went to Virginia Tech. They endured three years of long-distance dating before Scott was drafted in the MLB First Year Player draft in 2012. When Patsy moved to North Carolina for graduate school, Scott relocated to the South during the off-seasons. He proposed the day after Patsy’s 24th birthday, watching a Virginia Tech football game on TV.
The couple loved how unique Bay 7 was as a wedding venue and the fact that it was a short walk away from the iconic Durham Bulls Stadium on American Tobacco Campus. It was the perfect photo opp for a baseball player and and a sports-loving bridal party/family!
When thinking about how they wanted their wedding to look, they kept coming back to the words “clean” and “classic.” The incredible Katie Dunn of Events by La Fête brought this to life with white and black table and aisle runners paired with elegant gold and marsala accents. And for a fall wedding, the colors were perfect.
To tie in Scott’s Jewish heritage, they situated a Jewish chuppah at the alter of the ceremony, and, of course, the breaking of the glass. Mazel Tov!
The two now live in Raleigh, NC where Patsy works as a high school counselor while Scott still plays professional baseball.
“I could never have planned this wedding without Katie Dunn of Events by La Fête. She went above and beyond, and always kept her cool. If I was ever stressed, Katie reassured me everything would be fine. When the big day finally came, I was able to enjoy the day and be excited to marry my best friend, instead of worrying about wedding details.”
“We were so excited that Bay 7 was catered by Angus Barn! We are still receiving compliments on the food! They worked with us to make sure each piece of the meal was exactly what we wanted. They were so accommodating.”
“Robin Lin Photography was incredible to work with! Her turnaround time was amazing. She made me feel so at ease, as if she was another friend at our event. We’re so thankful we found her.”
“Fresh Affairs took our wedding to the next level. I came to my appointment with a few ideas, and they knew exactly how to make them a reality.”
