Beach Wedding Inspiration On The Outer Banks

Summer Beach Wedding at The Sanderling Resort by Sarah D’Ambra Photography

“Don’t drop the ring in the sand!” – how is that for a marriage proposal answer? Bride Maggie not only said yes to marrying Jake, the love of her life, but she also said yes to a dreamy beach wedding at The Sanderling Resort and Spa.

Listen to the lullaby of waves crashing on the shore. Inhale the fresh salty air and exhale all of your worries – there’s nothing sweeter than summertime at the Outer Banks. It’s easy to see why Maggie and Jake fell in love with the idea of a beach wedding. Their shared love of the beach comes from their childhood memories of vacationing on the Outer Banks with family. “We chose the Sanderling Resort after falling in love with the beautiful facilities and views. The Outer Banks now holds an even more special place in our hearts!” -Bride Maggie, 2019

Maggie and Jake wanted their beach wedding to be a breeze. Which is why they hired only the best nc wedding vendors. Local NC wedding photographer, Sarah D’Ambra Photography captured every moment of Maggie and Jake’s magical beach wedding. From the sunset dockside wedding portraits to the adventurous boat reception entrance, Sarah D’Ambra got it all on film. This romantic, beach inspired wedding had a color palette of blues, whites, and greens that blended effortlessly with the natural beauty of the beach setting.

Breezy Beautiful Beach Wedding Hair & Makeup by The Sanderling Spa

Say goodbye to “beach hair don’t care,” because The Sanderling Spa can transform any bridal party into wedding day perfection. Planning dresses, hair, and makeup for a beach wedding can be a challenge. But Maggie and her bridesmaids were taken care of at The Sanderling Spa. Maggie chose a gorgeous lace bridal gown and delicate pearl drop earrings. Her bridesmaids stepped into mix and match tea length, ocean sky blue dresses. Tea length bridesmaids dresses are a great choice for outdoor weddings that might be on sand or other exposed earth surfaces. The Sanderling Spa gave the entire bridal party beautifully neat updos. It’s important to have your hair and makeup stylist design a bridal look that won’t get tangled in the beach breeze on your wedding day! Bride Maggie loved working with The Sanderling Spa hair and makeup team,

“The Spa at the Sanderling was perfect. Not only was it super convenient for us, but the ladies were also incredibly talented and also so nice!  All the bridesmaids loved how they looked and I did too! They made us feel beautiful.”

Intimate Corolla Chapel Wedding Ceremony at The Outer Banks

Maggie and Jake shared their vows at Corolla Chapel, a whimsical little white church on the coast of NC. Maggie’s one and a half year old niece played a special role as flower girl in the wedding ceremony. Jake says that his favorite moment from their beach wedding was sharing vows, “Maggie got very choked up and teary-eyed, which was surprising because she doesn’t cry often, but it was also so incredibly sweet. It showed me how much she truly loves me.”

Following the Corolla Chapel wedding ceremony, Maggie and Jake entered their reception by boat! Sarah D’Ambra Photography expertly captured the entire day. Here’s what Maggie had to say about working with Sarah D’Ambra for her beach wedding at The Sanderling Resort.

“Sarah was absolutely the best! Since I planned our wedding from a different state, it was tricky to get a feel for a photographer over the phone, but after my first call with Sarah, I knew she was the person I wanted to hire. She has such a calm about her which is so helpful on such a busy day. Our wedding day was so hot – in the high 90’s. Sarah took this into account and was so efficient in taking all the photos so that we didn’t have to be in the heat for too long. I know that the whole wedding party truly appreciated her organization and efficiency!”

White and Green Ocean Wedding Reception at The Sanderling Resort

Maggie and Jake invited their wedding guests to an elegant dinner and reception party at The Sanderling Resort. Whispers of fresh greenery and white sheer cloth decorated the event space. Tiny sea creatures painted in gold served as creative escort cards guiding guests to their seat and table. The Sanderling Resort catered the seaside reception and provided guests with a cozy place to spend the night. Maggie and Jake shared their first dance as husband and wife surrounded by an incredible view of the ocean. Maggie’s favorite memory from her beach wedding at The Sanderling Resort was dancing at the reception,

“I was with all my best friends, my family, and my new in-laws and I just thought to myself “all of my favorite people are here right now, celebrating with me” – it was a really cool feeling and also something that will probably never happen again.”

The Flynns now live in Oklahoma, but we’d bet that they’ll be back at The Sanderling Resort and Spa for a vacation, soon enough! Jake is a Captain in the Army working as a Battery Commander for Basic Training. And Maggie works as a Virtual Assistant and as a Health & Fitness Coach.
