How to Prepare For Rain On Your Wedding Day
So, it’s the week of your wedding, and you find yourself obsessively checking the weather. It’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning and the last thing you do before you fall asleep at night. You are eagerly waiting to see if there will be rain on your wedding day.
You are not the first bride or the last bride to be in this position. It’s so easy to fall in love with outdoor venues, especially NC outdoor wedding venues. With the longer warm weather season in the South it gives couples more months out of the year to have their dream outdoor wedding. But as much as you plan each and every detail of your special day, the one thing you can’t plan is Mother Nature.
Our biggest piece of advice to brides planning their wedding is to remember that the weather, especially here in North Carolina, is totally unpredictable. If you’re planning on having an outdoor ceremony or reception, make sure you have a rain plan. Many venues have an indoor option in case of inclement weather that can be made just as beautiful as the outdoor space you’ve come to love so much.
But, if your venue doesn’t, look into the cost of renting a tent, or having one on hold as a backup, and factor that into your budget from the get go. It’s better to be on the safe side, and you don’t want to blow your budget on a last minute rental.
If it does rain on your wedding day — which it inevitably will for some brides — try not to sweat it. Make the most of it; some of our favorite wedding photos are of the bride and groom with lovely, brightly-colored umbrellas or the bridal party in fun galoshes. After all, rain is supposed to be good luck on your wedding day, and photographers actually prefer overcast weather for lighting.
Just remember that if, at the end of the day, you and your love become husband and wife, everything has gone perfectly!
So don’t fret, ladies. Embrace North Carolina’s unpredictable weather, and don’t let rain on your wedding day spoil the wonderful occasion.
