We’re thrilled to share some of the beautiful real weddings from the pages of the 2015 edition of Southern Bride & Groom! Today, we’re sharing Steven and Alyssa’s elegant Southern wedding at The Oaks at Salem, shot by f8 Photo Studios.
After four years of dating, Steven commissioned some of Alyssa’s friends to help him pull off an elaborate proposal at Eno River State Park. Each pal held up a sign with a single word – “will,” “you,” “marry,” and Steven emerged with the final piece to complete the question: “me?”
The couple envisioned an outdoor wedding that was elegant, yet down to earth, to match their own personalities. The Oaks at Salem had everything they wanted – a beautiful venue with a tented patio, a spacious bridal suite, and a gorgeous natural backdrop for their ceremony, which was performed by the same minister who officiated the bride’s mother and stepfather. For their early fall wedding, Alyssa and Steven went with a rich color combination of deep purples, shades of green, and grey accents. These colors were incorporated in every detail, from the hand-made place-cards to the personalized popcorn favors.
To complement the floral arrangements and the outdoor setting, the couple had specialty patterned lighting that resembled tree branches installed in the reception tent, a nod to the giant oak tree under which they shared their vows. The bride’s advice to our engaged readers is to have as much fun as possible. “It can feel overwhelming, but with a great planner and great vendors, you’ll get all of the support you need to make your day beautiful!”
