Southern Bride & Groom works with some of the best wedding photographers in the Raleigh-Durham area and all across North Carolina. We’re thrilled to feature a North Carolina wedding photographer spotlight series so that you can get to know each of them a little better! Today, we’re introducing you to Jaime of J&J Photography.
In June of 2007, J&J Photography was created and consisted of Jody and Jamie (dad and daughter). After shooting together for two years, Jody retired in 2009, but the family story (and name) continues on. Jamie has now photographed over 160 weddings and truly enjoys being a part of this momentous occasion for couples across North Carolina.
Photography is a way to capture and stop a moment in time. I’m able to provide lasting memories on one of the happiest days in one’s life. The ability to be creative yet work at a fast-paced rhythm drives me to do my best.
Where do you draw your artistic inspiration?
The locations and our couples are my inspiration. Each time I get in the car and drive here and there, I’m always looking for that sweet spot that can be photographed. It pushes me to make something beautiful and different with new places. Once I have a couple, I feed off of their energy and connection. Each couple is different and I try to think of different ways to show their love and personality.
How would you describe your style?
I take a photojournalistic approach to my photography. I want our brides and grooms images to tell their story from start to finish. From the little details to the excitement expressed by guests throughout the day.
What is your favorite thing or moment to shoot at a wedding?
On a wedding day there are lots of emotions flying around and people whizzing around. When a bride and groom choose to have a “first look” that is hands down the best experience. Their emotions are raw and reactions are not held back. This moment they have been anticipating for so long is finally here and I get to capture it!
What do you think sets you apart from other photographers?
My personality. I want my couples to relate to me and simply just have a fun experience. They become a part of my family and I want them to feel that way.
Meet Jamie in this film by one of our SB&G Preferred Videographers, Twenty-One Films.
