Emily and Tye had a magical connection as soon as they met. Emily had recently moved back from San Francisco to her native Charlotte, NC, but was back on the West Coast visiting friends, when she was introduced to Tye at a party. They shared a dance and a laugh, and when Emily returned home they stayed in touch, sending one another letters and books. Several months later, Emily moved back to San Francisco, and her love story with Tye continued. They have been inseparable since then – a pairing that was truly meant to be.
Tye proposed to Emily in the breathtaking setting of a mountaintop in Chamonix in the French Alps, with a moonstone ring which was his great-grandmother’s engagement ring.
The couple knew that they wanted to be married in a natural setting. They both have strong ties to Tahoe – Tye had lived in nearby Truckee in the past and still plays music there regularly, and they both visit the area frequently to hike.
They found the perfect place in Tahoe – Camp Richardson. Friends and family flew in from all over the country. Emily’s North Carolina crew, Tye’s entourage from his native Michigan, plus a large group of friends from their now home, San Fran, all made the trek for the
There was a full weekend of fun for their guests. On Thursday there was a group hike, followed by a pizza party and bonfire for everyone who was in town; Friday evening the rehearsal dinner was a boat cruise around Emerald Bay; and Saturday was the big day. Although there were warnings of rain, the weather held out for a picture-perfect beach ceremony on the lake, followed by a reception in the elegant yet rustic event venue.
One special touch of the wedding was Tye’s sister’s contribution. Autumn designs an eco-chic clothing line, so she created a special assortment of dresses for Emily’s bridesmaids. Although this is not going to be a regular thing for Autumn Teneyl, it’s definitely worth checking out her website! Another touch, in a nod to the engagement ring, Emily gave each bridesmaid a different pair of moonstone earrings.
Riley Maclean, one of our SB&G photographers and a Tahoe native himself, documented the wedding day. Some of his stunning images are here below, and trust us, they’re seriously swoon-worthy…enjoy!
