It’s Wedding Feature Wednesday at Southern Bride & Groom! Today we’re excited to share Ally and John’s rustic simple summer wedding at All Saints Chapel in Raleigh.
Ally and John met in the laundry room at college and may not have started talking had it not been for a missing sock, which Ally accidentally dropped as she was leaving, and John came running after to return to its rightful owner. The two talked off and on for about a year but didn’t start dating until a week before they both graduated. They then dated long distance for a year, got engaged, and were married four months later!
About a year after they started dating, they went back to visit their college and John told Ally to dress up because he wanted to take out to dinner. After a romantic meal at one of the best restaurants in town, he took her back to the same place where he had originally asked her to be his girlfriend. As they were walking down one of the paths, she noticed lights strung up from one of the trees and rows of flowers on the ground. He got down on one knee and had the sweetest proposal prepared for her in the most beautiful setting.
The moment Ally saw All Saints Chapel, she loved the rustic and charming look of it, especially with the wood floors. They wanted to keep the wedding simple and laid back, so they didn’t go over the top with decorations, but let the beauty of the chapel remain evident. They used a lot of sunflowers and burlap to give it a more rustic theme.
They decided to use The Pit/Empire Eats for catering since they both love barbeque and wanted to give everyone a taste of the South! “Empire Eats was very easy to work with, and the food was delicious!” shares the bride.
