The Love Story: Raleigh Couple Finds Personal Connection with The Merrimon-Wynne House
It’s fitting that Francisco and Alexandra first met in engineering class at Enloe high school in Raleigh. Their story is the ultimate project of joy, faith and love. After years of Francisco reluctantly sharing his pop tarts with Alexandra, he decided he wanted to share the rest of his life with her. Alexandra says her husband now saves her “the last bite of everything.”
Although they now live in Virginia, when Francisco and Alexandra visited The Merrimon-Wynne House, they knew it was the place for their wedding. Alexandra lived in a 200 year old farm house as a younger child and the historic beauty of Merrimon-Wynne drew her in immediately. They loved the versatility of having the indoor Carriage House pavilion and other options for various parts of the wedding day. They also adored its location in downtown Raleigh, so they could share the city they love with their guests.

Southern Wedding Tradition of Burying the Bourbon
The Merrimon-Wynne House let the couple bury the bourbon on site at their Raleigh venue. This Southern wedding tradition is said to bring great weather to the wedding day. In this case, it seemed to work!
“If you bury the bourbon, take a picture on your phone and mark the spot! We almost started digging in the wrong place before Abby from Merrimon-Wynne reminded us.” – Alexandra
Spring Garden Wedding Ceremony at The Merrimon Wynne House, Designed by Raleigh Wedding Planners C and D Events
Francisco and Alexandra said their vows in the gorgeous outdoor lawn area of The Merrimon-Wynne House. Vibrant spring greenery and blooms set the natural backdrop for the outdoor ceremony. Bushel & Peck, the floral team of C and D Events, lined the aisle with garlands of greenery. The show stopping centerpiece of the outdoor wedding ceremony had to be the arch. It was made out of beautiful wooden beams and covered in white, green, and blush flowers. No matter the season, The Merrimon Wynne House is a wedding venue with magical fairy tale atmosphere.
Minimalist Garden Themed Raleigh Wedding Reception with Flair
C and D Events expertly decorated the heavenly white interior of the Merrimon-Wynne House wedding venue. Light touches of green and blush gave the wedding reception space a romantic minimalist vibe. The tables were covered in garlands of greenery and flowers. Blush and blue statement dishes from CE Rental greeted guests from dinner. The high ceilings, elegant archways, and charming chandeliers of The Merrimon-Wynne House gave this wedding reception a glamorous glow.
The bride and groom wanted to incorporate their family culture into the special day. Hand-painted Spanish style tiles as table numbers were inspired by Francisco’s Colombian heritage. And if you look closely, a set of ceramic love-birds from an artist in Colombia rest atop of the wedding cake. The Cupcake Shoppe of Raleigh, NC baked the bride and groom a gorgeous three tiered white wedding cake with delicate floral placement.
Wedding Planning Tip From the Raleigh NC Bride
“To all the brides out there: either break in your shoes ahead of time or bring a pair of flats to change into! I loved my beautiful blue heels but I couldn’t feel my feet after the ceremony and was SO happy to change into my sparkly Keds before the reception!” -Alexandra
